St Thomas' Church, Market Rasen

The repair project to St Thomas’ Church was carried out to counter the problem of masonry falling from the tower.  A survey showed many stones were falling and whole sections of buttresses were coming away from the tower.

The repair scheme included rebuilding the buttresses, replacing many individual stones, and inserting steel pins to hold the structure together.  At the same time, the opportunity was taken to strip and reslate the nave and aisle roofs, which were in a state of disrepair, and renew rainwater goods.

The project was part-funded by English Heritage, together with money raised within the local community.
